Job description
Are you a very experienced veterinary technician with a purrfect passion for feline care? Do you love working with cats (even the spicy ones), expanding your knowledge, and being part of a compassionate team? If so, the Cat Hospital of Austin wants you!

About Us: We are a feline-only hospital led by Dr. Leland, a board-certified feline chiropractor who blends traditional medicine with holistic practices to offer our patients the best of both worlds. Our clinic is all about high-quality diagnostics, exceptional care, and building meaningful relationships with both our feline patients and their devoted owners.

We’re looking for a dedicated Veterinary Technician who’s not only skilled in surgery and dental cleanings but also passionate about delivering top-tier patient care. If you’re looking for an environment where you can grow, develop, and make a real difference in the lives of cats and their owners, we might be the perfect fit.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assisting in exam rooms: You’ll be the go-to support for our veterinarians, ensuring cats get the best care.
  • Running lab work with IDEXX equipment: Ensuring that the test results we get are as accurate and timely as possible.
  • Assessing ear cytology and fecal samples: You’ll analyze samples and help guide treatment plans.
  • Blood draws & catheter placement: Precision is key when it comes to handling delicate procedures for our feline patients.
  • Anesthetic monitoring: Keeping our kitties safe and stable while they undergo procedures.
  • Dental cleanings: Helping our patients maintain those sparkling cat smiles.
  • Radiology: Using our advanced radiology equipment to support diagnoses, including dental X-rays.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: At least 2 years in a veterinary setting, with experience in surgery, dental cleanings, and diagnostic testing.
  • Comfort with spicy kitties: Not all cats are sweet, but you’ll be ready to tackle the spicy ones with a gentle, calm approach.
  • A passion for learning: Dr. Leland’s unique mix of traditional and holistic medicine will offer you plenty of opportunities to expand your skills.
  • Strong patient care skills: You believe every cat deserves to be treated with the utmost respect and care, no matter their mood.

Why Emotional Intelligence (EI) Is a Big Deal Here: At Cat Hospital of Austin, we understand that medicine is about more than just procedures—it’s about the people and animals we serve. Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a core part of our culture because it helps us build trust, communicate effectively, and create a supportive environment for both clients and team members. We use EI to manage the ups and downs of a busy clinic, handle the stresses of caring for sometimes difficult or scared patients, and foster a compassionate, positive work atmosphere. You’ll be part of a team that values empathy, active listening, and a calm demeanor, ensuring we approach every situation with kindness and respect.

What You’ll Get:

  • A 4-day workweek (no weekends!): Enjoy your weekends off and get a three-day weekend every week!
  • Competitive pay and benefits: We offer a package that values your hard work and dedication.
  • Paid time off & holidays: Enjoy well-deserved time away from work.
  • Ongoing continuing education: We support your growth with opportunities to expand your skills and knowledge.
  • A healthy work environment: We value emotional intelligence and strive to create a supportive, positive atmosphere, free from gossip and negativity.

Why You’ll Love It Here:

  • Work-life balance: No weekends means you can enjoy a three-day weekend every week. More time to relax, recharge, and spend with loved ones.
  • Growth and learning: You’ll have the opportunity to expand your knowledge, especially in diagnostics and feline care, under the guidance of Dr. Leland.
  • A team-oriented culture: Emotional intelligence isn’t just a buzzword here— We believe in honest communication, mutual respect, and providing the best care possible by understanding and managing emotions, both yours and others’.

If you’re a veterinary technician who’s looking for a feline-focused clinic that values emotional intelligence, client education, and the well-being of both its patients and staff, we’d love to meet you!

Ready to join our paw-some team? Apply today to become part of the Cat Hospital of Austin, where we treat our furry patients with the highest level of care—and our team members with the same respect and support.

We can’t wait to meet you (and your kitty! )
